HanBuddy Cancellation and Refund Policy

Version 2026-09-08

This policy covers cancellation, refunds, schedule changes and service issues for activities booked on HanBuddy and forms part of the Terms of Service. More favorable conditions shown in the activity details or at checkout take priority for the Tourist.

Refunds are assessed in this order:

  1. Members may request statutory withdrawal within 7 days of receiving the written contract details. If supply occurs later, members may request withdrawal within 7 days from receipt or commencement of supply. Any longer period required by applicable law applies.
  2. If statutory withdrawal applies, refund the full amount actually paid as a priority.
  3. HanBuddy’s general 48-hour/24-hour cancellation rules apply after the statutory withdrawal period or where grounds restricting withdrawal under Article 17(2) of the Republic of Korea’s Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc. are recognized. However, a full refund takes priority when the 30-minute free cancellation conditions below are met.
  4. Apply Sections 3–7 for separate grounds such as Buddy cancellation, lateness or no-show, activities not as described, or material schedule changes.

1. Statutory Withdrawal Rights

  1. Members may request statutory withdrawal within 7 days of receiving the written contract details. If supply occurs later, members may request withdrawal within 7 days from receipt or commencement of supply. Any longer period required by applicable law applies.
  2. Where statutory withdrawal applies, the full amount actually paid is refunded without a cancellation fee.
  4. Before payment, the Company clearly discloses statutory withdrawal availability, possible restrictions, time-based refund amounts and the actual-payment basis, and obtains separate consent.
  5. If the activity differs from its description, advertising or contract, the Tourist may withdraw within 3 months of provision and within 30 days of becoming aware, or being able to become aware, of the discrepancy.
  6. This policy does not restrict statutory rights to withdrawal, contract termination, damages or dispute resolution.

2. HanBuddy General Cancellation Rules

Cancellation requested within 30 minutes of payment confirmation of the booking and before the scheduled activity start receives a full refund of the amount actually paid, regardless of the general cancellation rules. This benefit ends at the scheduled activity start. It does not restrict statutory withdrawal or other refund rights.

For personal cancellations after the statutory withdrawal period or where a legally recognized restriction applies, the following refunds are calculated from the scheduled start time, unless the activity details offer more favorable conditions.

When cancellation is receivedRefund
At least 48 hours before the activity startsFull amount actually paid
At least 24 but less than 48 hours before the start50% of the amount actually paid
Less than 24 hours before the startNo refund
After the start or for a no-showNo refund

The refund restrictions in the table above apply to ordinary voluntary cancellations. Even after the activity starts, statutory withdrawal rights remain available for separable service portions whose provision has not begun. Portions not provided due to the Buddy’s or Company’s fault and other separate refund grounds qualify for full or partial refunds under Sections 3–7 and applicable law.

  1. Times are calculated in the activity location’s local time. Activities in the Republic of Korea use Korea Standard Time (KST).
  2. “Amount actually paid” means the amount approved through the payment method after coupons, promotions, points and other discounts.
  3. Group bookings are cancelled as a whole while partial cancellation is unavailable. If partial cancellation is supported, calculation is based on the amount actually paid for the cancelled participants.
  4. Cancellation is received when the request is successfully recorded on the server. If a service failure prevents submission, contact support immediately with objective evidence such as screenshots.

3. Buddy Cancellation

  1. If the Buddy cancels, the Tourist receives a full refund of the amount actually paid for that booking.
  2. The Company may offer a different schedule or activity where possible but will not require acceptance. If the Tourist declines, a full refund is provided.
  3. Buddies must not ask Tourists to cancel on their behalf. If a Buddy cancellation was recorded as a Tourist cancellation, it is corrected and fully refunded.
  4. Buddy cancellation fees and operating measures follow the Buddy Operating Terms and Buddy Commission and Settlement Policy.

4. Buddy Lateness and No-Shows

  1. Tourists should wait at the agreed meeting place from the start time and try to contact the Buddy.
  2. If the Buddy is at least 15 minutes late without prior agreement, the Tourist may request a 20% refund of the amount actually paid. If the Tourist chooses not to proceed, a full refund may be provided after reviewing the delay and whether performance remains possible.
  3. If the Buddy is at least 30 minutes late, the Tourist may end the activity and receive a full refund. If the Tourist expressly agrees to continue, a proportional partial refund or replacement service may be agreed.
  4. If the Buddy does not attend and cannot be contacted, the amount actually paid is fully refunded.
  5. Unavoidable traffic restrictions or emergencies do not affect the Tourist’s refund rights for unprovided activities. Only sanctions against the Buddy may be assessed differently based on evidence.

5. Activities Not as Described or Not Properly Provided

The Company provides a full or partial refund based on the scope of the problem and the extent of participation when:

  • The location, key itinerary, language or main content differs substantially without prior notice.
  • Essential tickets, reservations, equipment or preparation are missing, preventing normal operation.
  • There is a serious safety risk or a serious breach of law or the Community and Safety Policy by the Buddy.
  • Additional payment is demanded on site for costs already described as included.
  • All or a significant part of the activity is otherwise not provided due to the Buddy’s fault.

After reaching safety, Tourists should report problems as soon as possible, normally within 72 hours of the activity ending. Photos, messages and receipts help timely review. Late reporting alone does not extinguish statutory rights, but inability to verify facts because of delay may affect the refund assessment.

6. Schedule or Content Changes

  1. Material changes by the Buddy to the date, start time, location, key itinerary, language or inclusions require the Tourist’s consent through the Service.
  2. Tourists who do not accept a material change may cancel without penalty and receive a full refund of the amount actually paid.
  3. A Tourist’s rescheduling request is confirmed only if the Buddy agrees and space is available. Until confirmed, the original booking and general cancellation rules remain in effect.
  4. If only part of the itinerary was provided, the Company assesses the value provided, the unprovided portion, and evidence of previously disclosed costs actually incurred by the Buddy. Statutory withdrawal rights or rights arising from the Buddy’s fault cannot be unfairly restricted.

7. Force Majeure

If natural disasters, emergency government orders, major traffic restrictions, official epidemic restrictions or other events beyond reasonable control prevent the activity, the Company offers rescheduling or cancellation. On cancellation, the amount actually paid for the unprovided activity is refunded. Incidental flights, accommodation or transport outside the HanBuddy booking are not compensated unless the Company or Buddy is legally responsible.

8. Refund Requests and Processing

  1. Tourists may request a refund through booking cancellation/refund functions or contact@hanbuddy.kr.
  2. The Company checks booking details and cancellation timing, and explains additional evidence needed and estimated processing time where further review is required.
  3. For statutory withdrawal, the Company will refund within 3 business days of the statutory starting date. For services or transactions where supply has not occurred, this is the date statutory withdrawal is exercised. For other cancellations eligible for a refund under this policy, the Company will refund within 3 business days of receiving the cancellation request. Refunds normally use the original payment method. For card and similar payments, the Company will promptly request the payment provider to stop billing or cancel the payment and take any necessary steps, including returning funds already received.
  4. After the Company cancels the payment and makes any necessary return of funds, additional time may be needed for card statements, billing deductions or account deposits to reflect the refund, depending on the card issuer, bank or payment provider. The Company will provide the cancellation result and verifiable transaction information. This does not limit its statutory refund obligations or liability for delay. Failed cancellation requests will be followed up until properly processed.
  5. Coupon and promotional discounts are not refunded in cash. Coupon restoration follows promotion conditions disclosed before payment.
  6. Members may initially appeal within 3 days of notification of a refund decision. Later requests based on statutory rights or justified grounds are also reviewed.

9. Fraudulent Refund Requests

Where forged evidence, intentional disruption or duplicate compensation is reasonably suspected, the Company may hold processing to verify facts. Confirmed fraud may result in refund refusal, account restrictions or legal action. Reasons and appeal instructions are provided.
