This policy applies to activity sales proceeds, platform fees, cancellations, refunds and settlements for Buddies providing activities on HanBuddy.
1. Commission Rates
- The standard platform fee excluding VAT is 20% of actual sales. VAT on that fee is 10% of the fee, equivalent to 2% of actual sales. The total standard deduction is therefore 22% of actual sales.
- Approved Early Buddies may receive a 10% platform fee rate excluding VAT. VAT is equivalent to 1% of actual sales, making the total deduction 11%.
- These 22% and 11% figures are total deductions combining the platform fee and VAT on that fee, not separate platform fee rates. They do not mean an additional 10% VAT deduction from activity sales themselves.
- The applicable fee rate, VAT and total deduction must be separately identifiable in settlement screens or notices before a Buddy lists an activity or accepts a booking.
- Fee-rate changes are announced 30 days before taking effect. Bookings confirmed before the change use the rate applicable at payment. If VAT law changes, the amended statutory rate applies.
2. Calculation Basis
-
“Actual sales” is the portion allocated to the activity of the amount the Tourist actually paid after coupons, promotions and discounts.
-
Company-funded discounts may be added back before fee calculation if separate promotion conditions provide for this. Buddy-funded discounts use the discounted amount.
-
For completed bookings:
Platform fee excluding VAT = Actual sales × Applicable platform fee rateVAT on platform fee = Platform fee excluding VAT × 10%Expected settlement = Actual sales − Platform fee excluding VAT − VAT on platform fee − Other deductions disclosed in advance -
Settlement statements separately identify each booking’s actual sales, discounts, fee rate, fee excluding VAT, VAT, total deductions, refunds, adjustments and final payout.
3. Cancellations and Refunds
- Amounts fully refunded for statutory withdrawal, Buddy or Company fault, or general cancellation generate no platform fee, VAT on that fee or Buddy compensation.
- For a general Tourist cancellation with a 50% refund, fees, VAT and Buddy settlement are calculated from the remaining 50% of actual sales retained by the Company.
- For non-refundable general cancellations or no-shows, calculation uses the full actual sales amount.
- Partial refunds caused by Buddy fault use the remaining amount after refund. No Buddy compensation is paid for fully refunded bookings.
- Buddy cancellation less than 7 days before the activity may incur a fee of 20% of the amount actually paid. A Buddy no-show may incur a separate 20% cancellation fee in addition to the full refund.
- Refunds advanced by the Company and cancellation fees owed by the Buddy may be offset against pending settlements. If insufficient, the Company explains the calculation and payment method in writing.
4. Settlement Schedule and Payment
- Activities completed in a month are closed for settlement on that month’s last day. In principle, payment is made by the last business day of the following month to the Buddy’s registered account in their own name.
- If the settlement day is a bank holiday, payment may be made on the next business day.
- Account errors, incomplete identity verification, missing tax information or banking failures may delay settlement. The Company explains the reason and required action.
- Buddies may dispute a settlement within 14 days of receiving the statement. Clear calculation errors or statutory rights are reviewed even after this period.
5. Settlement Holds and Adjustments
Only affected amounts may be held for as long as necessary for:
- Pending cancellations, refunds, chargebacks or payment disputes.
- Reasonably suspected fraud, fake bookings, identity theft or Terms violations.
- Verification of activity provision or settlement account ownership.
- Applicable law or a lawful authority request.
The Company informs the Buddy of the reason, amount and release requirements. Unrelated confirmed amounts are not indiscriminately withheld.
6. Taxes and Supporting Documents
- Buddies report income and pay taxes under applicable law.
- VAT on platform fees taxes the platform service supplied by the Company to the Buddy. It is distinct from income tax, VAT or other taxes on the Buddy’s activity sales.
- The Company issues legally required tax invoices, receipts or settlement documents and may withhold taxes, submit payment statements or request tax information as required.
- Buddies must keep settlement account and tax information accurate.
7. Settlement after Termination
Confirmed settlements for completed activities are paid even after account closure or termination of Buddy status. Amounts related to unresolved refunds, chargebacks, damages or statutory retention duties may be held until finalized.
